Palestrina and the Roman School

“The Byrd International Singers is a select group of singers from around the world that participate in the annual Renaissance course offered by the Byrd Ensemble. During a week of intensive singing, singers refine the vocal and musical skills required for professional ensemble singing. In July 2022, we spent a week in Petritoli, Italy preparing a program of music by Palestrina and other composers from the Roman School to be performed at Santa Maria Maggiore in Rome, where Palestrina himself took post.”
